A Michigan man has been formally charged with murder after investigators found blood evidence linking him to his missing ex-girlfriend, Ashley Elkins, a 30-year-old mother of two.
Deandre Booker, 32, now faces charges of premeditated murder, tampering with evidence, dismembering and mutilation of a corpse, and concealing a death, prosecutors announced on Friday.
Authorities executed a search warrant at Booker’s residence, uncovering what they described as a gruesome crime scene with a significant amount of blood in the bathroom. DNA analysis later confirmed the blood belonged to Elkins.
A Disappearance That Turned into a Murder Investigation
Elkins was last seen on January 2 when she left home to run errands. A few days later, police found her abandoned car, but there was no sign of her.
Investigators quickly focused on Booker as a suspect, alleging that he repeatedly lied to authorities in the days following Elkins' disappearance. Initially, he was charged with providing false information to police, but more serious charges followed as evidence mounted.
Search Efforts and Ongoing Investigation
As part of their investigation, authorities seized several items from Booker’s apartment complex, including a dumpster believed to contain crucial evidence. Search teams also spent days combing through the Pine Tree Acres Landfill, hoping to find additional clues.
Booker is being held at the Macomb County Jail, and his bail is set at $250,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
The search for Ashley Elkins continues, and authorities urge anyone with information to come forward. If you have any details that could help, contact local law enforcement or Crime Stoppers. Follow Savage RoyalT Ent to stay updated on this developing case and other true crime stories.
