A Tulsa pastor, Bertheophilus Maurice "Judge" Bailey Sr., appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to multiple sex crime charges, including rape, child sex abuse, and incest. The charges were brought against Bailey following his arrest last week. The pastor, formerly serving at St. Andrew Christian Church in north Tulsa, resigned from his position over the weekend amidst the allegations.
According to an affidavit, the victim, who was identified as one of Bailey's parishioners, alleged that the abuse began when she was a child and continued into her adulthood. The abuse reportedly escalated over the years, with Bailey allegedly entering her home unannounced and sexually assaulting her, even after she had given birth.
The victim bravely shared her story on social media, warning others about Bailey's predatory behavior. This revelation led to another victim coming forward, prompting Tulsa Police to initiate an investigation. Evidence, including text messages where Bailey confessed to being an adulterer, child molester, and rapist, as well as recordings and additional witness statements, supported the victim's claims.
In response to the allegations, Bailey's family issued a statement expressing deep regret for the victim's suffering and acknowledging the gravity of the situation. The church, where Bailey was a respected figure, has yet to comment on the case publicly.
Presently, Bailey remains in custody on a $500,000 bond awaiting further legal proceedings. As the investigation continues and more details emerge, the community stands in solidarity with the victims and awaits justice in this troubling case.
