Alabama Mother Convicted of 'Horrifying' Abuse of Twin Babies: Adoption Becomes Their Only Hope

harity Angel Harris, a resident of Semmes, Alabama, has been found guilty of committing unimaginable abuse against her twin children. The Mobile County District Attorney's Office revealed the severity of the abuse that included skull fractures, brain bleeds, and liver damage, which began when the babies were just three weeks old. Harris' cruel acts continued until her arrest when the twins were seven months old. The mother was convicted of three counts of aggravated child abuse and one count of assault.

The Mobile County District Attorney, Keith Blackwood, condemned the horrifying mistreatment inflicted upon the defenseless infants and pledged to be their voice and protect the most vulnerable members of society. Court records laid bare the extent of the abuse, including a series of incidents between 2017 and 2018 that caused severe physical damage to the twins.

As a result of Harris' conviction, the abused children, who now bear permanent physical injuries, have the chance for a better future through adoption. They are currently under the care of foster parents.

Harris is scheduled to be sentenced on October 31 and could face a prison term ranging from 10 years to life for each count of aggravated child abuse, along with hefty fines. The alarming case highlights the urgent need for vigilance in identifying and preventing child abuse, ensuring the safety and well-being of every child in our society.
