An Arkansas couple, Darien Urban and Shalene Ehlers, faces charges for attempting to trade their 2-month-old baby boy for a 6-pack of beer and money. This disturbing incident, brought to light by Natural State law enforcement, reveals the couple's alleged reckless behavior endangering the welfare of a minor. Authorities detail how the couple openly sought consideration for relinquishing their child in exchange for alcohol and cash at a campground.

On September 21, a report to the Benton County Sheriff’s Office revealed that the parents tried to give up their baby for a 6-pack of beer and later demanded $1,000 for the child. Witnesses at the Beaver Lake Hide-A-Way Campground in Rogers corroborated the events, with video evidence showing Urban and Ehlers signing a contract with a potential buyer.

The motive behind the attempted sale was reportedly prompted by Ehler's struggle in caring for three dogs and a baby. Urban and Ehlers agreed to hand over their baby to an intoxicated individual, Ricky Crawford, in exchange for beer and later planned to finalize the transaction with Cody Nathaniel Martin for $1,000.

Concerned for the baby's safety, law enforcement intervened, rescuing the child from neglect and placing him in a hospital for assessment. Urban and Ehlers now face charges of endangering the welfare of a minor and attempting to accept consideration for relinquishment of a minor. Martin, who orchestrated the contract, is part of the investigation but claims no money had exchanged hands at the time.

The arrest and subsequent charges against the couple highlight the severe consequences of such actions and the paramount importance of protecting vulnerable children from exploitation. The community reaction to this shocking case underscores the need for vigilance and swift intervention to safeguard the well-being of minors in distressing situations.
