The Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies have taken a significant step forward in the investigation of the 2023 murder of Shreveport business owner Mark L. Hailey. The latest development in this case involves the arrest of Rameika L. Franklin, adding a new dimension to the ongoing pursuit of justice.

The tragic events unfolded when Hailey was found dead in his home last March, a discovery made by his concerned nephew after noticing a broken front door. The responding deputies, upon arrival, sadly confirmed Hailey's passing due to blunt and sharp force trauma. The investigation that followed involved thorough forensic analysis, multiple search warrants, community tips, and extensive interviews with friends and family.

Following diligent efforts, Patrick D. Howard was identified as a suspect, leading to his arrest in November 2023. However, the authorities suspected that more individuals were involved in Hailey's untimely demise. This suspicion was reinforced when Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended Franklin on March 12, relating to Hailey’s case. Subsequently, she was transported to the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center to face charges of second-degree murder, armed robbery, and criminal obstruction of justice. Howard, who was arrested previously, remains incarcerated without bond.

The sequence of events leading to these arrests underscores the meticulous work and collaboration of law enforcement agencies in seeking justice for Hailey and his grieving family. The community now awaits further developments in the legal process to bring closure to this tragic chapter.
