In a disturbing case in Missouri, three individuals have been arrested for subjecting as many as seven children to sexual and physical abuse and neglect. Codie Lee Wilder, 25, is facing charges of child molestation, sodomy, and statutory rape. Billy Bresee, 42, is facing one count of abuse or neglect of a child, while Holly Brewer, 49, faces three counts of the same charge. The victims, who ranged between the ages of 12 and 14, endured horrifying experiences that included being forced to sit inside dog cages and suffering beatings with wooden spoons.

According to a probable cause affidavit, one of the victims, who is related to Bresee, revealed to the Seneca Police Department that she and her sisters were subjected to sexual acts by Wilder. When she informed Bresee about the abuse, he allegedly did not take action and instead instructed her to go live with a relative. Bresee went as far as to dismiss the girls' claims as lies, further perpetuating the cycle of abuse.

The affidavit detailed how Brewer allegedly punished two of the youngest victims by making them stay in dog kennels and physically assaulting them. The children were slapped in the face and beaten with such force with a wooden spoon that it broke during the abuse. Following the investigation, Wilder was arrested while staying with the victims, while Bresee and Brewer were arrested separately. Bresee and Brewer posted $5,000 bonds but are prohibited from contacting the victims, while Wilder remains in the Newton County Jail without bond.

This harrowing incident underscores the urgent need to protect children from abuse and provide them with a safe environment to thrive. The bravery of the victims in coming forward has enabled law enforcement to take swift action against the perpetrators. Justice must prevail for the victims, and they deserve the necessary support and care to recover from the trauma inflicted upon them. It is crucial for communities to remain vigilant and report any suspicions of child abuse to prevent further tragedies.
