A family dispute over parenting skills on Facebook turned deadly as a 17-year-old shooter and his family members were sentenced for the murder of an innocent victim. Jackie Turner, now 18, received a 30-year prison term for the shooting death of Seth Burns in Kenton County, Kentucky. The incident, fueled by insults and relationship issues, involved Jackie's mother, brother, and sisters.
According to reports, the argument originated on Facebook with insults about children and parenting skills, eventually escalating due to a dispute between Xxavion Turner and his ex-girlfriend, who was dating Burns. Amanda Turner, the mother, drove her armed sons and daughters to confront the ex-girlfriend and others, with the intent to engage in a physical altercation on August 25, 2023. Xxavion Turner and Jackie Turner both fired shots during the confrontation, resulting in Burns' tragic death. Amanda Turner then helped her sons flee the scene to evade law enforcement.
Amanda Turner pleaded guilty to facilitation of murder, riot, and unlawful transaction with a minor and faces a potential 12-and-a-half-year prison term. Jackie Turner admitted to driving her sons to the confrontation and encouraging the fight, leading to her guilty plea for murder. Two of Amanda Turner's daughters also pleaded guilty to charges related to the incident.
Described as a senseless and tragic event by Kenton County Circuit Judge Kathleen Lape, the outcome of a petty argument on social media resulted in irreversible consequences. Seth Burns, an innocent victim with no connection to the quarrel, lost his life in the crossfire, leaving his family devastated. The Turner family members involved in the fatal altercation now face legal repercussions for their roles in the tragedy. With surveillance footage capturing the chaos of that day, the harrowing incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and consequences of letting online disputes escalate to violence.
