In a tragic turn of events in Des Moines, Iowa, a 24-year-old man named Hamza Smajlovic is behind bars for allegedly shooting his ex-girlfriend's parents as they were helping her move out following the end of their relationship. The incident, which occurred at around 5:20 p.m. on a Friday in the 200 block of NW 51st Place, resulted in the death of 45-year-old Ruth Sue Ann Robison and the critical injury of her 52-year-old husband.
Smajlovic faces serious charges including murder in the first degree, attempted murder, and intimidation with a dangerous weapon. According to a criminal complaint, he shot Robison once in the head with a 9 mm pistol and also shot her husband in the head.
