Florida Mother Arrested After 6-Year-Old Son Calls Police Claiming She Left Him & His Toddler Brother Home Alone

In a disturbing incident that has left the community shocked, a 25-year-old mother from Miami, Florida, was arrested after her 6-year-old son called the Miami-Dade Police Department to report that she had left him and his 2-year-old brother home alone. Demetria Antwonette Spencer was taken into custody following the distressing call.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the boys inside a home that was described as "very dirty." To make matters worse, the residence had no power and lacked essential food supplies. The police officers also noted that the children appeared to be unbathed.

The authorities attempted to reach Spencer by using a contact number provided by the 6-year-old boy. However, she failed to answer calls, and officers were unable to locate her in the vicinity. It took several hours for a Florida Department of Children and Families investigator to arrive at the scene and retrieve the children from their grim living conditions. It was not until the following day that officials managed to locate and apprehend Spencer.

Spencer has been charged with two counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. She has remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on a $5,000 bond, along with an additional warrant for driving without a valid license.

This heartbreaking incident highlights the importance of providing adequate care, supervision, and essential services for children’s physical and mental well-being. The Florida Department of Children and Families will continue to investigate the matter, ensuring these innocent children are protected from further harm.

It is our collective responsibility as a society to prioritize the welfare of our children, granting them the safe and nurturing environment they deserve. This arrest serves as a reminder that neglecting this duty can have serious consequences, both legally and ethically.
