In a horrifying turn of events, Benjamin Garcia Gual, 49, allegedly murdered his girlfriend, Carmen Martinez-Silva, 50, by stabbing her multiple times with a kitchen knife following a dispute over her new haircut. The incident took place at her brother's mobile home in East Hempfield Township on November 3.
According to police reports, Martinez-Silva had expressed fear of Gual after he became angered by her haircut and threatened to stab her. Seeking refuge with her daughter, Yamaris Knight, Martinez-Silva eventually went to her brother, Luis Martinez-Silva, to seek assistance in ending her relationship with Gual.
Eyewitnesses described how Gual arrived at Luis Martinez-Silva's residence, looking for Carmen. Despite attempts to protect her, Gual allegedly stabbed Luis Martinez-Silva before turning the knife on Carmen, resulting in her tragic death. Gual also reportedly attacked another witness who tried to intervene, showcasing the terrifying and chaotic nature of the violent outburst.
911 callers reported Gual staying at the scene with the murder weapon until police arrived. He was arrested and is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault, and recklessly endangering another person. Gual is currently held at Lancaster County Prison without bail.
