Suburban Chicago Babysitter Charged in Horrific Knife Attack on Young Children

A suburban Chicago woman, Jennifer Kouchoukos, 51, has been charged with multiple felonies after allegedly stabbing two young children she was babysitting, leaving them severely injured and covered in blood. The incident took place on November 17 in Lisle, Illinois, and shocked the community.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found one child in the bathroom and the other in the kitchen, both covered in blood. Kouchoukos was discovered in the same bathroom, wearing blood-soaked clothing. The victims, aged 1 and 4, were immediately rushed to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and later transferred to Comer Children's Hospital in Chicago.

During the investigation, authorities found numerous knives with blood stains, an empty bottle of wine, and a nearly empty bottle of rum. Kouchoukos was unresponsive at the time and was also taken to the hospital for medical attention.

Charges against Kouchoukos include first-degree attempted murder, aggravated battery to a child under 13, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She is currently being held without bail pending her arraignment in January.

State's Attorney Bob Berlin expressed his gratitude that the children's injuries were not life-threatening and commended the efforts of the Lisle Police Department.

This disturbing case serves as a reminder of the importance of ensuring the safety and well-being of children under our care. Authorities are seeking a psychiatric evaluation for Kouchoukos, highlighting the need for a comprehensive understanding of mental health issues in such cases.
