Madison Bergmann was arrested Wednesday for allegedly “making out” with her fifth-grade student.

A 24-year-old elementary school teacher in Wisconsin, identified as Madison Bergmann, has been arrested for allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a fifth-grade student just months before her scheduled wedding. The unsettling incident came to light when the student's mother overheard her son talking to the teacher on the phone, leading to the discovery of texts and conversations between them.

According to reports, the victim's parents found text messages between Bergmann and their 11-year-old son. The father confronted River Crest Elementary School with printouts of the conversations, which reportedly included details of encounters inside the classroom during lunch or after school, with Bergmann allegedly expressing enjoyment at the physical interactions, including "making out."

Furthermore, police discovered a folder in Bergmann's possession with the victim's name on it containing numerous handwritten notes, indicating the extent of their relationship. One letter allegedly written by Bergmann mentioned her realization that the type of interaction they were engaging in was inappropriate, stating, "I know we have a special relationship and I do love you more than anyone in the world but I have to be the adult here and stop."

Bergmann reportedly told investigators that she had obtained the boy's phone number from his mother in December when they invited her for a winter break outing. When questioned about the text exchanges, Bergmann opted to invoke her right to an attorney.

Following her arrest, Bergmann has been placed on administrative leave and is prohibited from any contact with district students, parents, or staff members. The Hudson School District issued a statement to parents expressing deep concern over the alleged misconduct and assuring them that actions were being taken to address the matter.

Social media posts indicate that Bergmann was set to marry in July, shortly before her arrest. She had recently become engaged to her long-term boyfriend and had started teaching at River Crest Elementary in 2022, enthusiastically sharing her classroom preparations on Facebook prior to the disturbing incident.

Bergmann is facing one count of first-degree child sexual assault and was released on a $25,000 signature bond. This distressing situation underscores the critical importance of vigilance and accountability in educational settings to protect the well-being and safety of students. Let us unite in condemning such behavior and ensuring that our schools remain safe environments for all children.
