A tragic incident from five years ago has resurfaced in the Cherokee neighborhood of Memphis as a 20-year-old woman, Breanna Williams, has been charged with murder in connection to a deadly robbery. The incident, which took place on July 3, 2019, resulted in the loss of Baba Said's life and has left a lasting impact on the community. Williams, who was only 15 at the time of the crime, has now been arrested and faces multiple serious charges related to the tragic event.

According to authorities, a year after the murder, the Shelby County District Attorney's Office revealed that Williams invited Said, who was 20 at the time, to a home on Amarillo Street. It was there that Jalen Braden, 26 at the time, allegedly robbed Said of $20 and then fatally shot him in the back of the head. Following the crime, Williams and Braden reportedly wrapped Said's body in plastic bags, placed it in the trunk of Braden's car, and disposed of the body in a drainage ditch near Park Avenue and Getwell Road.

Said's remains were not discovered until three months later when a boater found the body near a marina at Martin Luther King Jr. Riverside Park. In 2020, Braden reportedly confessed to his involvement in Said's death. An arrest warrant for Williams was issued on April 24, 2024, and she was apprehended without incident at a business on Appling Farms Parkway.

Williams now faces charges that include first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, especially aggravated robbery, aggravated robbery, and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery. Another individual, Albert Johnson, was also charged in connection to Said's death in 2020. Johnson admitted to being present in the home on Amarillo Street during the murder and confessed to helping dispose of Said's body. He, too, faces charges of first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and other crimes.

As the legal proceedings progress, it is essential to acknowledge the human toll of such heinous acts and to provide support to the victim's family and all those affected by this tragedy. This case serves as a stark reminder of the need for justice, compassion, and understanding in the face of senseless violence and loss.
