Tragedy at Family Gathering: Easter and Birthday Celebration Ends with Fatal Incident Involving Mickese James Bostic.

BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA- A family gathering meant to celebrate Easter and a young girl's birthday turned into a devastating tragedy when 27-year-old Mickese James Bostic was killed after allegedly being intentionally run over by the mother of his children.

According to Birmingham police, officers responded to a chaotic scene Sunday night where they found Bostic pinned between a car and a home. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say the suspect, whose name has not yet been released, is the mother of Bostic’s three children. Investigators believe that some of the children were present and witnessed their father’s final moments.

The violent incident reportedly followed a domestic argument that escalated inside the home. According to police, the suspect retrieved a firearm and discharged it before exiting the home with Bostic. Moments later, she allegedly got into a vehicle and ran him down.

Bostic’s death has left his loved ones shattered. Family members say he was a devoted father and a man who always stepped up, even raising children who weren’t biologically his as if they were his own.

“You know, a long time ago, they said it’s a few good men left? He was one of them,” said Brenda Frazier, Bostic’s aunt. “He was going to provide for his family, and he was going to do the things he needed to do for his family.”

Another aunt, Rosemary Adekpo, said the way Bostic died was senseless and cruel.

“She would do him so cruelly and so wrong. It’s not fair. It’s not right, but he’s a good person. He’s truly going to be missed,” she said.

As the news of Bostic’s death spread, family members turned to social media to express their anguish. His brother, Mike Bostic, shared a heartbreaking message directed at the suspect:

“You took something away from me that I’ll never be able to get back. You robbed my brother of his kids, family, and friends. What you did was pure evil.”

The suspect’s sister, Tanesha Jackson, also posted a raw and emotional message, expressing the internal conflict she feels over her baby losing both sides of his family.

“My baby didn’t just lose his Auntie and uncle—he lost his Daddy side too. My baby is not even one, and my sister killed his daddy’s twin brother,” she wrote. “This isn’t a joke. This is our life now.”

Bostic had worked with Jefferson County for nearly nine years, including in a role with the juvenile court. A county spokesperson confirmed that he began his career with the county directly after high school.

“This is a tough time for his family, friends, and colleagues. We are praying for all involved,” the county shared in a statement.

Police say the suspect was taken into custody at the scene and is expected to face formal charges.

As the Bostic family mourns, loved ones are calling for peace, justice, and protection for the children now left without their father.
