A temporary nursing assistant in Georgia faces serious charges for allegedly assaulting an elderly resident, resulting in fatal injuries. The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover more details about the tragic case.

Authorities in Georgia have arrested a temporary nursing assistant accused of fatally assaulting an 82-year-old resident at a senior living facility.

Curtis Hightower III, 28, was taken into custody on Sunday and charged with aggravated battery and exploitation of an elderly or disabled person. The charges stem from a disturbing incident on January 5 at Barclay Senior Living, located on Frazier Court in Richmond County.

According to investigators, Hightower struck resident Harry Millard with a closed fist, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. The impact rendered Millard unconscious, and he was later hospitalized. Tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on January 17.

Initially, Hightower claimed Millard's injuries resulted from a fall, but security footage told a different story. After reviewing the video, staff determined that the assault had taken place, prompting law enforcement to intervene.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office identified Hightower as a temporary worker assigned to the facility through Consolidated Medical Staffing. Kristen Ryan, executive director of Barclay Senior Living, confirmed that he had been hired directly through the staffing agency. Following the incident, Hightower was removed from his position and is no longer employed at the facility.

Attempts to reach Consolidated Medical Staffing and Barclay Senior Living representatives for comments on the matter have been unsuccessful.
