A South Carolina woman is charged with murder for allegedly stabbing her newborn son multiple times during childbirth in her Easley apartment, as authorities commit to pursuing justice.

Easley, SC

Authorities in Easley, South Carolina, have arrested a woman accused of fatally stabbing her newborn child during childbirth inside her apartment, in a case described by investigators as deeply disturbing.

Local police initially responded to an emergency call at the apartment home, only to quickly realize the gravity of the situation. Easley Police Chief Brandon Liner explained to local media that responding officers, who arrived at about the time the woman was delivering her baby, discovered a horrifying scene. They found the newborn boy suffering from multiple severe stab wounds.

According to police, the mother, identified as An Ngo, in her early 30s, allegedly used a sharp object to repeatedly stab the infant during the process of giving birth. Investigators discovered the infant boy's body with visible injuries, placed within a garbage bag in the residence.

Court documents state that Ngo admitted to harming her newborn son, demonstrating "extreme indifference to human life." She reportedly confessed to stabbing the baby both during and shortly after the childbirth, though authorities have yet to clarify a motive behind her actions.

ā€œThis baby barely had a chance at life,ā€ Chief Liner remarked solemnly during a press conference. ā€œIt's our duty to ensure he gets the justice he deserves.ā€ He emphasized that the child had sustained fatal wounds from a metal instrument, identified by investigators as a knife. He underscored that the authorities are fully committed to holding Ngo accountable.

Ngo, who received medical treatment after giving birth, was officially charged with murder. She is currently held in custody without bond, awaiting her next court appearance scheduled for May 15, 2025.

Community members have expressed shock and sorrow at the tragic event, as authorities stress the importance of raising awareness about available support systems to help individuals struggling with emotional distress or mental health issues.

She looks crazy when you look at her eyes. If she didn't want the baby put it up for adoption. She deserves a life sentence so she doesn't repeat this again
