San Antonio police have arrested a Houston man accused of murdering his former coworker over a massive debt and then boasting about it online.

Naqibullah Habibzoi, 23, is charged with murder in the May 31 shooting death of 42-year-old Awal Noor Kiftan outside his Northwest Side apartment in Bexar County. Authorities say the motive was a $31,000 debt that Kiftan owed Habibzoi.

According to court records, Habibzoi shot Kiftan multiple times after luring him outside with a phone call, in which someone claimed a woman was waiting to meet him. When Kiftan stepped out of his apartment around 11 p.m., he was fatally shot.

Detectives linked Habibzoi to the killing through surveillance and license plate records showing him traveling from Houston to San Antonio on the night of the murder. But what cemented the case, police said, were Habibzoi’s own social media posts.

Operating under the handle @khosti2002, Habibzoi reportedly published TikTok content bragging about the murder. In one post, he allegedly wrote, “If you do something bad to us, something bad will happen to you.” In another, “We never move on without taking our revenge.”

Investigators also obtained a phone call in which Habibzoi allegedly bragged that he “finished” Kiftan, describing himself as “pleased and satisfied” after the shooting.

Police say the suspect later tried to backtrack, posting messages claiming his account had been hacked and that he was being framed. However, investigators said physical evidence, including travel records and deleted TikTok posts, pointed directly to him.

Habibzoi, who had more than 20,000 TikTok followers, even shared a photo of his victim before taking it down.

He was arrested on Thursday and is currently being held in the Bexar County Jail without bail.

This case highlights the growing role of social media in modern criminal investigations, with digital evidence helping law enforcement track down suspects faster than ever before.
