A mother in Wisconsin, Sandi Ramona Goodman, 27, is currently facing charges of repeated acts of child abuse and child neglect causing great bodily harm after allegedly disciplining her 3-year-old son in a horrifying manner. According to court records, Goodman is behind bars on a $50,000 bond as a result of the incident that unfolded in their Milwaukee County home.
The disturbing events began when Goodman called 911 on October 4, claiming that her son had been burned by boiling water. However, it was discovered that she waited an hour before making the call. The young boy sustained severe burns, bruises, and blisters, with his skin reportedly peeling off. Doctors were forced to urgently sedate him and perform surgery to address his injuries.
Further investigations revealed a pattern of abuse inflicted on the child over several days. Doctors identified looped patterned injuries covering almost every part of the boy's body, indicating the extent of the abuse. The injuries were deemed to be beyond what could be considered reasonable discipline and appeared to be inflicted repeatedly over time.
During an interview with police, Goodman claimed the boy had been burned while she was boiling water in the kitchen and left briefly to go to the bathroom. She stated she heard him scream and found him trying to escape the water. However, the boy's injuries, which covered his entire upper body, could not be explained by her account. Goodman allegedly attributed these severe injuries to "bug bites."
Text messages retrieved from Goodman's phone revealed conversations with the boy's father discussing disciplining the child for incidents like defecating on himself. The father asked if she had disciplined the child physically, and Goodman admitted to doing so. Furthermore, the victim's siblings, ages 5 and 7, recounted harrowing accounts of abuse in the household. The children described being hit with a white phone charging cord and experiencing physical violence from their mother.
Goodman was arrested on October 7 and ordered not to have contact with her three children. Her next court appearance is scheduled for August 17. This distressing case highlights the urgent need to protect vulnerable children from abuse and ensure their safety and well-being are prioritized and safeguarded. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of addressing and preventing such atrocities in our communities.
