A grieving mother, Nicka Brown, seeks justice for her son Darrion, who tragically lost his life in a shooting. She shares heartfelt doorbell footage, urging the Memphis community for support and answers.

MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A Memphis mother is pleading with the community to speak up, releasing emotional doorbell camera footage in hopes it will lead to justice for her son’s tragic and unresolved death.

Nicka Brown lost her 21-year-old son, Darrion Brown, on February 1 after a shooting broke out at a rental property party on North Michelle Circle in Cordova. Darrion had been attending the party when gunfire erupted, riddling a car with bullets and cutting his life short.

"When I arrived on the scene, the tape was already up," Nicka said. "Everybody who had been at the party was gone, and the car was riddled with so many bullets… so many bullets."

Brown said she has kept the doorbell footage to herself for over seven weeks, hoping someone would come forward. But with no arrests and what she describes as a wall of silence from Darrion's peers, she released the footage publicly, hoping to stir the conscience and generate new leads.

"I believe if it were one of them, my son would be speaking out," she said. "He had a good heart. If someone had done this to one of his friends, he’d be saying something."

The video captured the moments before Darrion was shot, but Nicka fears the young people who were there are staying quiet out of fear or loyalty. She wants to remind them that this isn’t a game and the consequences are final.

"This is not GTA," she said, referencing the popular video game Grand Theft Auto. "When you kill somebody, they’re not coming back. This isn’t Mario. You don’t get multiple lives. This is real."

Nicka’s grief is etched in every word, and her call to action is clear: Speak up.

"Losing a child is the worst pain a parent can go through," she added.

Memphis Police continue to investigate the incident. Anyone with information is urged to contact authorities. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
